Creative Ways to Help
We understand that estate planning can feel daunting, and we want to offer you a few resources to make it easier.
Wills and Bequests
You have worked hard and saved as best as you could to prepare for whatever the future might hold. In thinking about the future, many consider how they will be remembered when the time comes. With a little planning, you can make a gift that helps us care for our sisters and brothers, especially those on the margins of society who are often forgotten.
IRA
Did you know that your IRA offers you a great opportunity to help support the Franciscan Missions while also enjoying some tax benefits? By making a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) from your IRA you can support our work with the poor and enjoy a tax advantage by doing so.
Living Trusts
A living trust is a special kind of trust (a legal entity) that you create during your lifetime to hold your property, money, or other assets for your own benefit.
Beneficiary Designation
Most financial accounts—bank or stock brokerage accounts, IRAs or other types of retirement plans, or life insurance policies—allow you to designate who will receive whatever remains upon your passing. Often the beneficiary designation is a simple matter of signing a form provided by the financial institution.
Life Income Gifts
Support Franciscan Missions while generating income for yourself and your family. Learn how these gifts allow you to achieve both of these goals.
Retained Life Estates
Donate your home, farm or a second home to Franciscan Missions and receive an immediate income tax charitable deduction, while retaining the right to live in your home for the rest of your life. If you itemize your deductions instead of taking the standard deduction you could save significant income taxes.
Employer Matching Gift Programs
Does your employer have a matching gift program or employee giving program?
Many companies encourage and support employee charitable giving by doubling or even tripling donations that their employees and retirees make to nonprofit organizations, like Franciscan Missions.
Join the Poverello Giving Team
St. Francis of Assisi dedicated his life to serving the poor. He entered into that service so completely that he became “Poverello,” the poor one. By choosing to give a portion of your resources every month, you can follow in his footsteps, becoming a servant of the poor, too. It starts by joining the Poverello Giving Team.
